Fete and Rose Queen

The Mellor fete is a popular community event and fundraiser which is always held on the last Saturday in June.

It raises in the region of £10,000 every year, with stalls, refreshments, Punch and Judy, raffle, side shows and a beer tent.

Highlights include a wacky Dog Show and the parachuting teddies!

The crowning of the new Rose Queen opens the afternoon and it closes with races and a highly competitive tug-of-war.

In the evening there is “Band on the Hill “with the beer tent remaining  open. Setting up all the marquees on the field as well as staffing all the activities is a huge operation, but also a lot of fun. Hopefully the gallant volunteers agree!
