Congratulations on your engagement!

We are delighted that you are thinking about marrying at St. Thomas’ Church, Mellor.

This is an amazing location for a wedding: a beautiful, intimate building, with a stunning background for your photographs as you come of out the church door, and a large car park for your guests.

You might also consider having your reception at the Mellor Centre next door.

Here’s some basic information that we hope will help:-

Do I qualify to marry at St Thomas’?

You must either live in the parish or have a Qualifying Connection to the Parish. If you do not already have a Qualifying Connection, you can gain one by becoming a regular worshipper here.

What do you mean by ‘Qualifying Connection’?

Any one of the following counts as a Qualifying Connection:

If one of you was christened, or confirmed, at St Thomas’ Mellor
If your parents or grandparents were married at St Thomas’ Mellor
If one of you has lived in the parish of Mellor and Marple Bridge, or your parent has lived here, for at least 6 months (at any time during your lifetime)
If you have attended public worship at St Thomas’ Mellor, or your parent has, for at least 6 months (at any time during your lifetime).

What will the wedding cost?

The fee for the wedding service is set nationally each year. For 2026 it is:

Wedding Service – £566.00
Calling of Banns at St. Thomas’ – £39.00

Total for a wedding at St. Thomas’ – £605.00
